SRINAGAR, June 28: The Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) of Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday conducted high-altitude operational drills along the Amarnath Yatra route in Anantnag district as part of preparations for the annual pilgrimage.
According to a police spokesperson, the MRT carried out intensive training exercises at Mahagunas Top on the Pahalgam route to the holy cave shrine. The drills focused on mountain rescue, casualty evacuation and emergency response to strengthen preparedness for the upcoming pilgrimage.
The 57-day Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28.
Police have also advised pilgrims to use the ‘Pehchaan’ mobile app to verify the credentials of service providers during the pilgrimage. The app is intended to help devotees interact only with verified and registered service providers, while preventing fraud, impersonation and overcharging.
