Srinagar, Mar 27: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of J&K Police dismantled a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror recruitment module linked to handlers across the border and in Bangladesh. Raids hit 10 locations in Srinagar, Ganderbal, and Shopian under court warrants tied to FIR No. 01/2026 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
Investigations pinpoint LeT terrorist Shabir Ahmad Lone, from Kangan in Ganderbal, as the key handler operating under aliases like Raju and Zafar Saddique. A highly trained operative with arms courses in PoJK, Lone started as an over-ground worker (OGW) in the 1990s, joined LeT in the 2000s, infiltrated via Bangladesh, and now directs recruitment from there—linked to high-profile attacks and recent modules.
CIK arrested Lone’s associate, 45-year-old Irfan Ahmad Wani from Shopian, a local masjid functionary who facilitated radicalization, recruitment, and logistics via encrypted apps with Pakistan- and Afghanistan-based terrorists.
Raids yielded incriminating digital devices, SIMs, phones, laptops, and documents. Probe continues to uproot the network, targeting OGWs, facilitators, and sympathizers in J&K and abroad.
