JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted an alleged fake currency racket in the Chowadi area of Jammu and arrested three persons, officials said.
According to police sources, the arrests were made during a late-night operation on Monday after authorities received information about a group allegedly involved in printing counterfeit currency notes.
The accused were reportedly operating from a rented room in the Chowadi area. During the raid, police seized counterfeit currency notes with a face value of ₹13,500, along with a scanner, printer, computer and other equipment allegedly used for producing the fake notes.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vijay Sahni, a resident of Bihar; Rahul Ahirwar, a resident of Madhya Pradesh; and Indrapal Kumar, a resident of Jharkhand.
Police are questioning the accused to determine how long the alleged operation had been active and whether counterfeit notes had already been circulated in the market.
Initial questioning reportedly revealed that the three suspects had arrived in the area a few days ago and subsequently rented the room from where the alleged operation was being conducted.
Further investigation is underway to identify other individuals who may be connected to the racket and determine the extent of the counterfeit currency network.
