Jammu, May 2 : Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has fulfilled the unfinished dream of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by abrogating the provisions of Article 370 of the Constitution, thereby strengthening the foundation of “Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat”.
Speaking at the Foundation-Day celebrations of Gujarat and Maharashtra at the Jammu and Kashmir Lok Bhavan here, Sinha said under Modi’s leadership, India has discovered a renewed spirit of confidence, dignity and progress.
“By abrogating Article 370 on August 5, 2019, he also fulfilled the unfinished dream of Sardar Patel, strengthening the foundation of Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat,” the LG said.
He said the prime minister’s leadership over the last 12 years has inspired citizens to transform resolve into action and reshaped the country’s landscape with development and determination.
Sinha said the Indian diaspora across the world is radiating with pride as the prime minister has restored the country’s timeless prestige.
“A new sense of self-respect stirs within every citizen, uniting all sections of the society in the shared vision of a developed India by 2047,” he said.
Describing Gujarat and Maharashtra as the country’s growth engines, the LG said both states have made massive contributions to India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and exports, while possessing rich social, cultural and spiritual legacies.
He said Gujarat’s soil is known for nurturing entrepreneurial spirit, zeal, simplicity and warmth, while Maharashtra commands global respect for its enterprise, valour and spiritual genius.
Sinha said Gujarat has produced great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Patel and Modi, who have transformed India’s destiny through resolve, dedication and self-belief.
He said India’s pride as the world’s largest democracy is deeply rooted in Patel’s vision and ideals of unity in diversity.
Referring to Maharashtra, the LG said the state is the land of industries, spirituality, selfless service and sacrifice, and remembered icons, such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Peshwa Bajirao, Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, for their contributions to national unity.
