Srinagar, July 10 : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has notified the Jammu and Kashmir Parking Rules, 2026, introducing a structured parking management system across Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils and Municipal Committees.
Under the new rules, cashless payment of parking fees and violation charges has been made mandatory. Authorities will also have the power to clamp vehicles in cases of non-payment of dues.
The rules require Urban Local Bodies to prepare scientific parking management plans within six months to improve parking regulation and management across the Union Territory.
A Central Parking Management System will also be implemented, enabling digital parking through mobile applications, SMS services and the National Common Mobility Card.
To ensure transparency and prevent revenue losses, all parking fee collections will be processed through an escrow account, the government said.
