Srinagar, Feb 26: Grand Mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam, announced today that Sadaqat-ul-Fitr for 2026 stands at Rs 80 per person, a compulsory charity every Muslim must pay before Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.
Mandatory for all—men, women, even infants—parents cover minors while adults handle their own; husbands need wife’s consent to pay for her. Calculated on half a Sa’ of wheat (Rs 77, rounded up to Rs 80 for caution), wealthier folks can give wheat, cash, dates, raisins, or other staples instead.
Distribute directly to the poor, needy relatives, orphans, and travelers in your community—no mosques, khanqahs, or political/religious groups.
