Jammu, Dec 20: Jammu and Kashmir has completed a comprehensive security audit of all departmental websites and decommissioned 35 redundant portals as part of a wider drive to bolster cybersecurity across government systems, a senior official said.
Secretary, IT Department, Piyush Singla, said advanced Endpoint Detection and Response and Unified Endpoint Management solutions have been rolled out at the Civil Secretariat complexes in Jammu and Srinagar, bringing around 5,100 devices under a centralised security net, while nearly 15,000 more devices in various head-of-department offices are expected to be covered by January 2026.
He said 28 departments have already started a census of their IT assets after nominating nodal users, while another 14 departments have been asked to fast-track the exercise to ensure complete asset mapping at the earliest. The adoption of official government e-mail IDs has also increased significantly, with the user base touching 1.81 lakh and about 35,000 new users added since May, Singla noted.
The secretary shared these details during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Friday to review progress under the Cyber Security Action Plan being implemented across the Union Territory. Emphasising the need for a holistic and robust protection framework for all IT infrastructure, Dulloo directed concerned drawing and disbursing officers to complete inventorisation of IT assets on the e-SAM portal within a month to strengthen monitoring and safeguard government systems.
He also asked the National Informatics Centre to prepare, within a month, a detailed roadmap for augmenting the capacity of the State Data Centre and for rolling out additional cybersecurity measures, with the aim of making the overall digital architecture across Jammu and Kashmir more secure and resilient.
