JAMMU, May 14: Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday urged authorities, including the Centre or the Supreme Court, to conduct a transparent investigation into paper leak incidents and ensure strict action against all those involved, irrespective of their influence or position.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a school function in Jammu City, the minister said repeated paper leak cases were deeply concerning and were causing serious distress to students and their families.
“My humble request is that there should be a transparent investigation into this matter. Whoever is found involved, no matter how powerful, should face strict action so that no one dares to play with the future of children again,” she said.
Itoo highlighted the emotional and psychological impact on students, saying that years of preparation are often shattered when question papers are leaked after examinations.
She also noted the strain on parents who invest significant effort and emotional support in their children’s academic journeys. “Some students even appear for exams multiple times, but such incidents destroy their confidence and future prospects,” she added.
The minister alleged that such malpractice was “buying merit, destroying lives, and pushing students into depression.”
On administrative steps to reduce fuel consumption, including downsizing official motorcades, Itoo said such measures should be viewed in the larger national interest, adding that every citizen has a role to play in conserving resources during difficult times.
Responding to a query on the possibility of online classes in educational institutions, she said the matter is under consideration but no decision has been taken yet.
