Jammu, May 5 : The BJP on Monday held celebrations across Jammu and Kashmir to mark its electoral victories in West Bengal and Assam, attributing the success to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The main function was organised at the party headquarters in Jammu, where JK BJP president Sat Paul Sharma, along with MPs and senior leaders, led the celebrations.

Dancing to the beats of drums, party workers raised slogans and distributed sweets after the announcement of the results. Amid chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram,” BJP activists also took out a rally in the R S Pura area of the city.

Similar celebrations were reported from Udhampur, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Rajouri, Kishtwar and Doda districts, where party workers burst crackers and raised slogans in support of Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Addressing reporters, Sharma termed the victory as “clear-cut” and said it reflected the prevailing democratic sentiment in the country. “The BJP has upheld democratic values, while others have disrespected them. Even a small group attempted disruption and disrespected Matri Shakti (women),” he said.

Highlighting the issue of women’s empowerment, Sharma referred to the legislation providing one-third reservation for women and said those opposing it had faced political setbacks. “I want to speak about the respect and dignity of women. Those who disrespected the bill have suffered defeats,” he added.

He claimed that opposition parties such as the Congress had been pushed to the margins in Assam and reduced to negligible presence in West Bengal, while other parties that, according to him, failed to uphold the dignity of women were also losing ground.

“The victory of the BJP is the result of Prime Minister Modi’s vision and leadership. Today, the entire country stands with him,” Sharma said.

He further asserted that women voters had played a decisive role in the outcome. “Women understand that their dignity and security are ensured under the present leadership. That is why they have voted in favour of the BJP, and the results are visible,” he said.
