Shimla, Apr 19: Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh declared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to women’s reservation via the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam is a “matter of faith,” not mere legislation, spotlighting a decade of women-centric policies that elevated women from beneficiaries to “architects of India’s development.”
Launching a sharp attack on Congress and the INDIA alliance, Singh accused them of obstructing the bill despite 50 years of rhetoric, calling it a “historic betrayal.” He highlighted transformative schemes like Swachh Bharat’s toilet drive—sparked in Modi’s 2014 Independence Day speech—for boosting women’s dignity and education, and Ujjwala Yojana for freeing women from indoor pollution.
“Women are now in civil services, STEM, research, and combat roles—unlocked by Modi’s frameworks,” Singh said, noting BJP’s 33% internal women’s quota versus Congress’s dynastic politics.
BJP leader Saroj Pandey echoed the criticism, mocking Priyanka Gandhi’s slogans as “hollow” amid the opposition’s “insensitive” celebration of the bill’s delay.
The leaders predicted a public backlash, with women voters poised to demand rightful representation.
