JAMMU JAN 09 : Jammu Police arrested another accused in a major cross-border narcotics and arms smuggling syndicate on Thursday, bringing the total number of arrests in the high-profile case to seven, officials said on Friday. The arrest was made as part of “Operation Sanjeevani,” an ongoing and intensified crackdown against narco-terror networks operating in the region.
Police had initially busted the extensive racket on December 5 last year in a significant breakthrough, apprehending six persons and recovering nearly five kilograms of heroin with an estimated street value of approximately Rs 30 crore, along with three pistols. The seizure marked one of the largest drug hauls in recent times and exposed the scale of the inter-state and cross-border smuggling operation.
Following sustained investigation and intelligence gathering, the latest accused was tracked down and taken into custody as part of efforts to completely dismantle the network. Authorities have been working methodically to identify and arrest all individuals connected to the syndicate, including handlers, facilitators and financiers who play crucial roles in keeping such operations running. The ongoing Operation Sanjeevani reflects the police’s commitment to eliminating narco-terrorism linkages that pose a serious threat to regional security and public safety.
