JAMMU, Dec 10: Flight operations at Jammu Airport remained largely smooth despite widespread IndiGo flight cancellations and delays across the country, a senior official said on Tuesday.
Airport director Devender Yadav said there were no security concerns, medical emergencies or incidents of unclaimed baggage linked to the disruption in IndiGo’s network. Flight issues at Jammu started on December 3 with one IndiGo cancellation, followed by four cancellations and six delays on December 4, and peaked on December 5 when all 11 IndiGo services were cancelled.
“Even as several airports across India were affected, operations at Jammu stayed stable thanks to effective coordination and teamwork among all agencies,” Yadav said, adding that passenger comfort, safety and timely information were prioritised. From December 6 onwards, schedules gradually normalised, though IndiGo still cancelled three flights each on December 6, 7 and 8, two on December 9 and one on December 10.
He praised all stakeholders for ensuring that other airlines ran their schedules normally, with no passengers or aircraft stranded at the airport. Agencies including the airport operator, CISF, airlines, ground handlers, service and housekeeping staff worked together to ensure seamless facilitation, with special support extended to senior citizens, children, pregnant women and passengers with reduced mobility.
Additional housekeeping teams were pressed into service to maintain cleanliness, while food and beverage outlets were asked to stock sufficient supplies. IndiGo provided hotel stays for affected travellers, arranged refreshments during delays and processed full refunds for all cancelled flights. Yadav said frequent announcements, updated display boards and fully staffed airline counters helped keep passengers informed, and refunds for all cancelled flights from Jammu have now been completed.
