Tehran, Mar 1: Iran tapped 66-year-old Ayatollah Ali Reza Arafi for its three-member leadership council to steer the nation until a new supreme leader emerges.
Arafi, a Guardian Council and Assembly of Experts member handpicked by the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in 2019, now sits alongside President Masoud Pezeshkian and judiciary chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei.
The panel buys time amid war and uncertainty as the Assembly hunts for Khamenei’s permanent successor.
