New Delhi: Delhi Police has reportedly submitted a report to the government on the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar, claiming that 2,873 identified participants were found to have criminal records, according to sources familiar with the contents of the document.

The report, which has not yet been officially released in the public domain, is stated to have been prepared using data obtained through Crime-Kundli and police dossiers. According to the document, 2,402 individuals were identified through the Crime-Kundli database, while 471 were identified through dossiers maintained by law enforcement agencies.

The document categorises the identified individuals under various offence heads. According to the figures cited in the report, 101 participants had cases relating to murder, 62 to attempt to murder, 284 to dacoity or robbery, 61 to rape, six under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 25 for molestation of women, 229 under the Arms Act, 135 for snatching, 19 for kidnapping, and 67 under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The report also lists 1,884 individuals under the category of other offences under the Indian Penal Code/Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and special laws.

Sources said the report has been forwarded to the government as part of an assessment of the background of those who attended the protest.

The contents of the report have not been independently verified, and Delhi Police has not issued an official public statement detailing or confirming the findings. It also remains unclear from the available information whether the listed criminal cases relate to pending investigations, convictions, acquittals or other stages of judicial proceedings, or whether the cases had any direct connection with the protest itself.

The report and the accompanying figures are based on information attributed to official sources and the document purportedly submitted to the government.
