JAMMU, Jan 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have ordered a 14-day preliminary enquiry after a video surfaced on social media showing a Kashmiri cricketer wearing a helmet bearing a Palestinian logo while playing cricket in the KC Door area of Muthi.
The cricketer has been identified as Furqan Ul Haq, son of Tajamul Hussain Bhat, a resident of Tangipuna village in Pulwama.
Police officials said the enquiry has been initiated in view of the sensitivity of the matter and its potential implications for public order. The proceedings have been registered under Section 173(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita at Police Station Domana.
According to police, the preliminary enquiry will focus on verifying the facts surrounding the incident, examining the intent behind the act, assessing the individual’s background, and probing any possible linkages related to the case.
