Jammu, Sept 08: India has registered a strong protest with Pakistani authorities following the arrest of a Pakistani intruder along the International Border (IB) in Jammu’s R S Pura sector. The Border Security Force (BSF) confirmed that the incident took place near the Octroi outpost in Suchetgarh tehsil late Sunday evening.
At around 9:10 pm, BSF troops noticed the intruder, identified as Siraj Khan, a resident of village 27-Chak in Bhalwal tehsil of Punjab province, Pakistan, moving aggressively toward the border fence. Despite repeated warnings, Khan refused to stop. Considering his actions a potential threat, BSF personnel fired at him and later apprehended him.
A search of the intruder led to the recovery of Pakistani currency notes of Rs 20 and Rs 10, the BSF said in an official statement. He was subsequently handed over to local police for further questioning.
The BSF emphasized that a formal protest has been lodged with Pakistan over the infiltration attempt.
In the aftermath, security has been tightened along the Jammu frontier, where recent flash floods have damaged fencing and border posts, increasing surveillance challenges. The incident once again underscores India’s resolve to safeguard its borders against repeated infiltration attempts.
