NEW DELHI, APR 28 : Maximum daytime temperatures soared to 40–46°C across most parts of the country, with only the western Himalayan region, northeast Bihar, and parts of northeast India recording relatively cooler conditions below 36°C.
The highest temperature of the day was recorded at Banda in East Uttar Pradesh, where the mercury climbed to 47.6°C, raising concerns about heat stress, public health risks, and strain on power and water resources. Authorities have urged people to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and to stay hydrated as the intense heatwave continues.
