Kargil, Jul 29: Thousands gathered in Kargil today as the Baseej-E-Imam unit of Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) led a protest rally condemning what they called defamatory content published against Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatullah Sayed Ali Hussaini Khamenei by segments of Indian mainstream and Zionist-aligned media.
The rally began at Markazi Jama Masjid and proceeded through Imam Khomeini Chowk before culminating at Lal Chowk, drawing large crowds chanting slogans and holding banners that read “Death To America,” “Death To Israel,” and “Death To Godi Media.” Protesters also carried placards bearing images of Ayatullah Khamenei, expressing deep anger and support for the Islamic Republic’s leadership.
Speakers at the event, including Haji Asgar Karbalai and Sayed Ali Musavi, accused foreign and domestic media of launching a smear campaign designed to erode respect for the Islamic leadership. They likened the attacks on Ayatullah Khamenei to historical campaigns against the Prophet Muhammad (SAWW) and the 11 Holy Imams (AS), asserting that defamation has long been a tool used by the enemies of Islam.
The protest sent a loud and clear message from the people of Kargil, reaffirming their loyalty to the Islamic leadership and vowing to resist any insult or attack directed toward its representatives. The demonstration concluded with calls for unity and resistance against what was described as a coordinated campaign to destabilize faith-based leadership through misinformation.
The event underscored the region’s strong emotional and ideological ties to Iran’s clerical leadership and reflected ongoing concerns over global narratives influencing public opinion in religiously sensitive regions like Kargil.
