Nyoma: KVK Nyoma (Leh-II), the highest Krishi Vigyan Kendra in the country, launched a 16-day Swachhata Pakhwada campaign from Tukla Village on 16 December 2025, which will be conducted till 31 December 2025, as part of the nationwide cleanliness drive.
The campaign was inaugurated under the leadership of Dr. Phuntsog Tundup, Head, KVK Nyoma, with the active participation of KVK scientists, staff members, farmers and villagers.
On the inaugural day a Swachhata Pledge was initially taken by the farmers, followed by KVK staff members, reaffirming their collective commitment towards maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene in their surroundings.
As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada, a series of cleanliness drives and awareness activities will be conducted across various locations in the Nyoma and Durbuk subdivisions. The drive will cover river banks, dumping sites, KVK office premises, stores, areas outside the KVK office, KVK farm, schools, monasteries, and surrounding public spaces.
These activities aim to promote responsible waste management, environmental hygiene, and active community participation. Addressing the participants, Dr. Tashi Dolkar, Subject Matter Specialist (SMS), KVK Nyoma, emphasized that cleanliness is a shared responsibility and an integral part of public health and sustainable agriculture.
She encouraged farmers and villagers to adopt cleanliness as a daily habit and to spread awareness within their respective communities. The KVK Nyoma team played an active role in mobilizing the community and sensitizing participants on maintaining clean surroundings and healthy living practices.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from farmers, villagers, and staff members, who collectively took an oath to keep their villages, farms, institutions, and public spaces clean and hygienic.
