SRINAGAR, Dec 5: Jammu and Kashmir’s Higher Education Department has mandated all universities and colleges to rigidly follow the Uniform Academic Calendar, banning any exams during official vacation windows to safeguard student and faculty welfare.
Protecting Winter Breaks and Academic Balance
Director Colleges Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir’s directive targets key institutions like University of Kashmir, University of Jammu, Cluster Universities, and autonomous colleges, referencing the May 2022 calendar guidelines. Vacations—crucial for winter chill relief, fog disruptions, summer heat, internships, and field visits—must remain untouched, as exams undermine these restorative and enriching purposes.
Zero Tolerance for Vacation Scheduling
“Institutions must not conduct term-end, supplementary, or special exams during notified breaks—all activities align strictly with the calendar,” the order emphasizes, building on prior notices. Full compliance is demanded to prioritize well-being over rushed assessments.
