Jammu, Oct 15: In a significant administrative decision, the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has ordered the promotion of ten Civil Judges (Junior Division) to the rank of Civil Judges (Senior Division) on an adhoc basis.
The promotions were made after careful consideration of comparative seniority, vigilance reports, and performance of the judicial officers, evaluated in terms of Rule 7 of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Judicial Service Rules, 2025.
According to an official order issued by the Registrar General of the High Court, those promoted include Maleeka Sharma, Ananta Raina, Shabir Ahmad Malik, Altaf Ahmad Mir, Meera Bangotra, Assma Chowdhary, Urvashi Raina, Anjeet Singh, Suhasni Vasistha, and Tarun Mahajan.
The order further states that the adhoc promotion shall be subject to certain conditions, including the officers not claiming any right of regular promotion or seniority benefits until final adjustments are made. They are expected to continue working at their current postings until further administrative directions are issued.
The move reflects the High Court’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the judicial system by recognising merit and performance within the subordinate judiciary. The promotions are expected to ease the workload at various court levels and ensure smoother judicial functioning across the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
