JAMMU : Marking one year since Operation Sindoor, Dr Meenakshi Kundan Thapa, wife of Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Dr Raj Kumar Thapa—who lost his life during Pakistani shelling—shared her grief.
On May 10, it will be one year since we lost him. “It feels like it happened just yesterday, but the heart still doesn’t accept it. My children still think he will come back,” she said.
“No one is prepared for martyrdom, especially the family. Operation Sindoor was very successful, but we lost our family member,” Dr Meenakshi added.
Dr Thapa became the first administrative officer to die in war. “He wasn’t on the front line but was actively ensuring civilian safety. He hadn’t come home for days, staying at his workplace.”
In their last conversation, he warned, “The intensity of shelling would increase—take care.” But he never worried about himself.
