Leh, Feb 19: The Army Commander of Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, on Wednesday visited several forward posts in Eastern Ladakh to assess the prevailing security situation and review operational preparedness along the sensitive frontier.
During the visit, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief conducted a detailed evaluation of troop deployment patterns, surveillance systems, logistics support frameworks and winter sustenance arrangements for personnel stationed in high-altitude areas. The assessment was aimed at ensuring that formations remain fully equipped and prepared to respond to any emerging challenges in the strategically crucial sector.
Lt Gen Sharma interacted with soldiers deployed at forward locations and commended them for their steadfast commitment and professionalism while operating under extremely harsh terrain and sub-zero temperatures. He praised their resilience and lauded the troops for maintaining a high level of operational readiness despite the demanding climatic conditions.
Emphasising the importance of vigilance and coordination, the Army Commander underscored the need for sustained training, effective technological integration and robust logistics support to maintain operational efficiency in high-altitude border areas over extended periods.
The visit forms part of routine operational reviews undertaken by senior military leadership to ensure strong defence preparedness across frontier regions. The interaction also served to boost morale among soldiers deployed in remote posts, far from their families, as they continue to guard the nation’s borders under challenging weather and terrain conditions.
