UDHAMPUR: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, Army Commander Northern Command, visited the Centre of Expertise for Drone Fabrication, Maintenance and Repairs, underscoring the Indian Army’s growing focus on technological preparedness and future battlefield readiness.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma carried out a detailed review of the specialised facilities dedicated to the fabrication, repair and maintenance of unmanned aerial systems. He was briefed on the latest technological capabilities, indigenous innovations and repair protocols that ensure rapid turnaround and high serviceability of critical drone equipment deployed across operational sectors.
The Army Commander inspected maintenance bays, testing laboratories and repair units, while interacting with technical teams responsible for ensuring round-the-clock readiness of unmanned platforms. These facilities play a pivotal role in sustaining surveillance, reconnaissance and operational missions, particularly in challenging terrain and high-altitude regions.
Commending the personnel, Lt Gen Sharma lauded their professionalism, technological ingenuity and high level of skill, acknowledging their indispensable contribution in maintaining optimal equipment readiness. He noted that the dedicated efforts of the teams significantly enhance the Army’s operational preparedness and its ability to swiftly adapt to emerging threats.
Highlighting the increasing relevance of drones in modern conflict scenarios, the Army Commander emphasised that such Centres of Expertise are crucial in strengthening India’s technological edge and preparing the force for the evolving dynamics of future warfare.
He encouraged the personnel to continue innovating and adopting indigenous solutions, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to self-reliance, rapid response capability and technological superiority.
