Sumoor, Apr 7: Demonstrating collective civic responsibility, Middle School Sumoor on Monday led a cleanliness drive in Sumoor village, mobilising students, teaching staff, School Management Committee (SMC) members and parents to promote hygiene awareness within the local community.
The initiative, conducted on April 5 as part of a summer outreach effort, focused on sensitising residents to the importance of maintaining clean surroundings and adopting basic sanitation practices. Participants actively engaged in cleaning public spaces and spreading awareness on hygiene-related issues.
School authorities said the drive was designed not only to improve the immediate environment but also to instil a sense of responsibility among students and community members alike. The involvement of parents and SMC members added a broader community dimension to the programme.
Teachers accompanying the students highlighted that such activities serve as practical learning experiences, encouraging young learners to become responsible citizens. Community members responded positively, acknowledging the role of educational institutions in promoting social awareness.
