Ghaziabad, Feb 7: The investigation into the suicide of three minor sisters who jumped from the ninth floor of their building in Ghaziabad has turned murkier, with police revealing family complexities including the father’s three wives and the seizure of their mobiles over “excessive” Korean culture attachment .
Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12) died after leaping from a tower in Bharat City Society under Trans-Hindon police station. Their father, Chetan Kumar, confiscated their phones—later sold—after deeming their interest in Korean apps, online games, and friends excessive .
On the tragedy night, the sisters took their mother’s phone but couldn’t access the apps; forensics found no trace of usage. A handwritten suicide note addressed only the father (not mothers) and fingerprints are under lab analysis, DCP Nimish Patil said .
Kumar has three wives—all biological sisters: Sujata (Nishika’s mother), Heena (Prachi and Pakhi’s mother), and Tina. The girls were reportedly closer to their father, per the note. Despite attachment issues, police note no direct link yet .
Cyber teams are tracing phone buyers via IMEI for app data. A nine-page diary from their room hints at Korean obsession and family discord; Nishika got her phone three months ago, Prachi’s 15 days prior .
The family’s past includes Kumar’s 2015 live-in partner dying after falling from a Rajendra Nagar roof—ruled suicide. Bodies were cremated Wednesday at Delhi’s Nigam Bodh Ghat .
