KARGIL, MAY 14 : In a fresh development amid the ongoing political crisis in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, two Congress Executive Councillors have reportedly stepped down from their positions, further intensifying uncertainty within the ruling coalition.
According to reports, Kacho Feroz and Zakir Hussain submitted their resignations from the Executive Council to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), LAHDC Kargil, who is also the Deputy Commissioner of Kargil.
The resignations come amid escalating tensions within the National Conference-Congress alliance following the submission of a no-confidence motion against Mohd Jaffer Akhoon.
Political developments in the Hill Council have gathered pace after sections within the coalition questioned the continuation of Dr Akhoon as Chief Executive Councillor beyond the alleged rotational tenure-sharing arrangement between the Congress and the National Conference.
While there has been no formal statement from the Congress councillors regarding the resignations, the move is being viewed as another setback for the ruling dispensation ahead of the anticipated floor test in the council.
The latest developments have added to the uncertainty surrounding the stability of the LAHDC Kargil administration, where shifting political equations continue to reshape the balance of power within the council.
