LEH, JAN 14: Four tourists from Uttar Pradesh — Yash Mittal, Shivam Chaudhary, Jaiveer Chaudhary, and Shadanshu Faujdar from Agra — who went missing during a trip to Pangong Lake, have been safely rescued in Ladakh amid harsh winter conditions.
The group lost contact with their families days earlier while traveling in Ladakh. Police launched a swift coordinated search operation after the report.
The tourists visited Pangong Lake in their private vehicle on January 9. While returning to Leh, they mistakenly took the snow-closed Leh-Manali road.
Police teams traced their last location toward Sarchu, found their vehicle — which had a minor accident roadside — and expanded the search to Debring and Whisky Nalla areas.
The four were located 20 km from the vehicle, trapped in a hut after spending two nights inside it using the heater until fuel ran out in sub-zero temperatures.
All were found in stable condition, provided food, water, and aid. They are en route to Leh on Wednesday to reunite with families.
