PESHAWAR, May 9 : Five terrorists were killed during separate operations carried out by Pakistan’s security forces in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the army said on Saturday.
According to a military statement, the operations were launched on May 7 and 8 in the Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts based on intelligence inputs regarding militant activity in the region.
The army said four terrorists linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during an exchange of fire in the Tank district.
Another militant was eliminated in a separate operation conducted in Dera Ismail Khan, the statement added.
Security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the militants during the operations. Further search operations are underway in the areas to eliminate any remaining threats, officials said.
