Ganderbal, Oct 24: Ganderbal Police have booked three hoteliers in Sonamarg for violating provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act by failing to submit details of foreign tourists to the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) within the stipulated time.
According to a statement, the action was taken under the supervision of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal (JKPS) following a comprehensive inspection drive in the Sonamarg area.
During the checking, it was found that Hotel Mount View, Hotel Imperial Resort, and Hotel Village Walk were accommodating foreign nationals without timely reporting their details to the concerned authorities, as required under Section 17 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025.
Taking cognizance of the violations, Police Station Sonamarg registered three separate FIRs — FIR No. 25/2025, 26/2025, and 27/2025 — under Section 8/23(b) of the Act against the hotel owners.
Police have urged all hotel and guesthouse owners in the district, especially those hosting foreign nationals, to strictly follow the legal guidelines and ensure prompt submission of guest particulars to the FRO.
Ganderbal Police said they remain committed to enforcing the law and ensuring accountability in the hospitality sector
