LEH DEC 16: The Fire and Fury Corps marked Vijay Diwas in Leh with solemn reverence and deep patriotic fervour, commemorating India’s historic victory in the Indo-Pak War of 1971 and paying homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The observance underscored the enduring legacy of courage, sacrifice and national unity that defines the spirit of Vijay Diwas.
As part of the commemorations, Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, UYSM, SC, SM, VSM**, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, on behalf of all ranks of the formation, laid a wreath at the iconic Hall of Fame War Memorial, Leh.
Senior military officers and a large contingent of troops from the Leh Garrison were present during the wreath-laying ceremony, standing in silent tribute to the fallen heroes of the 1971 war.
Adding a special dimension to the event, veterans of the Indo-Pak War of 1971 were felicitated in recognition of their valour and service to the nation.
The General Officer Commanding also interacted with the youth of Ladakh, inspiring them with accounts of sacrifice and duty, and participated in a bicycle rally organised to commemorate Vijay Diwas and promote the message of patriotism and unity.
Addressing the gathering on the solemn occasion, the General Officer Commanding called upon all ranks of the Fire and Fury Corps to continue dedicating themselves selflessly to the service of the nation and to always uphold the guiding principle of ‘Nation First’ in all their endeavours.
The ceremony concluded with renewed resolve to honour the sacrifices of the past while steadfastly safeguarding the nation’s future.
