Drass, Feb 19: The Fire and Fury Corps of the Indian Army on Wednesday organised a vibrant cultural and musical festival titled Sangam–e–Sur in Drass, offering a dedicated platform to local artists to showcase their talent and connect with a wider audience.
Held amid enthusiastic participation, the event drew more than 600 attendees, including officials from the civil administration, local residents, youth and Army personnel. The strong turnout reflected the growing partnership between the Armed Forces and the people of Ladakh.
Six solo artists from the region captivated the audience with melodious performances, while a group dance presentation added colour to the evening. An impressive display by the Indian Army’s Jazz Band further elevated the atmosphere, earning applause from the gathering.
The programme underscored the Army’s outreach beyond its operational responsibilities, focusing on community engagement and encouragement of young talent. By creating avenues for cultural expression, the initiative aimed at nurturing artistic skills and fostering confidence among youth in the region.
Local residents welcomed the effort and expressed appreciation for the Army’s continued engagement with the community. They observed that such initiatives provide exposure to emerging artists and inspire young people to pursue their creative aspirations.
The festival concluded with a message of cultural pride, youth empowerment and strengthened cooperation between the Armed Forces and the people of Ladakh, reinforcing the spirit of unity in the border region.
