Jammu, Jan 28: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah expressed profound grief over the tragic death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash on Wednesday, describing him as one of India’s great sons whose contributions will endure.
“The news about Pawar’s death is heartbreaking. He was a great son of Maharashtra who sincerely tried to change the destiny of the state. His passing away in the plane crash left me deeply saddened,” Abdullah told reporters in Jammu.
The former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister emphasized that Pawar’s demise is an irreparable loss not just to the Pawar family but to the entire nation, noting, “No one has power over the will of Allah. He was on his way to Pune for election preparations, but fate did not favour him.”
Abdullah extended heartfelt condolences to Sharad Pawar and the bereaved family, praying for the departed soul’s eternal peace and strength for them to bear this immense loss.
Pawar, aged 66, along with four others, perished when their private aircraft crashed during an emergency landing attempt near his hometown of Baramati in Pune district. The NCP leader was en route from Mumbai to address rallies ahead of the February 5 zilla parishad polls.
