JAMMU: Senior National Conference leader and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah allegedly violated prescribed security norms when he arrived at a marriage venue in a private vehicle in the Greater Kailash area of Jammu on Wednesday night, sources said.
According to sources, Abdullah reached the venue with a full security detail deployed as per the standard protocol provided to him. The security convoy reportedly included multiple escort and protection vehicles along with personnel drawn from different security agencies.
Sources said the security arrangement comprised two Bolero vehicles carrying six NSG personnel, one Gypsy with three CRPF personnel, one camper with three CRPF personnel, and one Bolero carrying five personnel from the J&K Police security wing. In addition, one plain Scorpio for the NSG officer and one bulletproof Scorpio designated as the main government security vehicle were also part of the convoy.
Overall, the deployment included six NSG commandos, six CRPF personnel in the escort team, and five personnel from the J&K Police security wing tasked with ensuring the leader’s protection.
However, sources alleged that Abdullah himself did not use the designated bulletproof government Scorpio, which is part of his official security protocol, and instead arrived in a private vehicle. Media reports and visuals circulating online purportedly show him stepping down from a private car while entering the venue, raising questions about adherence to prescribed security procedures.
