Leh: Highlighting the agriculture-focused vision of the Union Budget 2026–27, BJP leaders in Ladakh stated that the latest budget lays a strong foundation for farmer welfare, rural prosperity, and sustainable agricultural growth in the Union Territory.
Addressing a press briefing, Lobzang Larjay, BJP Kissan Morcha State President UT Ladakh, outlined several farmer-centric provisions of the budget, describing it as a transformative roadmap that places farmers at the centre of India’s growth story. The briefing was also attended by senior BJP leader Phuntsog Gongzan Pa Chuchot, who emphasised the long-term impact of the budget on strengthening rural livelihoods in Ladakh.
The leaders credited the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the Union Government continues to prioritise rural development, agricultural sustainability, and income enhancement for farmers across geographically challenging regions such as Ladakh.
Special emphasis was placed on agriculture sectors suited to Ladakh’s unique agro-climatic conditions. Leaders highlighted enhanced support for cultivation and value addition of high-value nuts and medicinal plants, which are increasingly emerging as key income sources for local farmers. They noted that the policy push is expected to create new opportunities for exports, value-chain development, and self-reliance among farming communities.
The leaders further stated that focused investments in agri-infrastructure, market access, and technological support would help strengthen Ladakh’s agricultural ecosystem while reducing dependency on external supply chains.
Describing the Union Budget 2026–27 as a step towards building a resilient and future-ready agricultural economy, the leaders reiterated the Central Government’s commitment to empowering farmers, improving rural livelihoods, and ensuring inclusive economic growth in the high-altitude region.
The briefing concluded with a call for greater awareness among farmers regarding new schemes and incentives announced in the budget to ensure maximum benefits reach grassroots agricultural communities across Ladakh.
