Leh, Sept 10: EJM College observed World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September 2025 with a program themed “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” highlighting awareness, empathy, and resilience. The event, organized by the Department of Psychology at the MP Hall, drew active participation from students, faculty, and mental health advocates.
Guest speaker Miss Kunzes Dolma, Clinical Psychologist, delivered the keynote address, focusing on suicide prevention, identifying warning signs, adopting coping strategies, and the importance of open communication. Her session was followed by an interactive discussion that encouraged students and faculty to engage in a safe and supportive dialogue.
The program featured a performance by the EJM College Band, a skit Behind the Silence that depicted hidden struggles, and a vibrant dance celebrating life and expression. Welcome speeches were delivered by students Zeskit and Rigzen Dolma, while Assistant Professor Miss Stanzin Youdon offered the Vote of Thanks under the coordination of Dr. Syed Ali Shah, Head of the Department of Psychology.
Organizers noted that the initiative helped raise awareness on suicide prevention, promoted mental health literacy, and reduced stigma surrounding mental illness. The program also sought to encourage early intervention and foster solidarity through creative performances.
As the event concluded, participants left with a stronger sense of connection and hope, reinforcing the message that mental health conversations must continue to safeguard lives and strengthen communities.
