e-Gazette Becomes Official Platform for Government Notices in Ladakh

Leh, Dec 29: The Union Territory Administration of Ladakh has formally moved all official government publications to an electronic Gazette system, ending the long-standing practice of paper-based notifications.
The decision, issued by the General Administration Department, makes the e-Gazette the sole platform for publishing government notifications, orders, standing rules, and regulations in the Union Territory. The move follows a proposal received from the Youth Services and Sports Department seeking the introduction of an online Gazette mechanism.
To ensure smooth implementation, the Administration has assigned defined roles to senior officers. Moses Kunzang, JKAS, Administrative Secretary of the Youth Services and Sports Department, has been appointed as the Uploader and will be responsible for placing official documents on the e-Gazette portal. Sumera Shafi, JKAS, Under Secretary, has been designated as the Submitter, entrusted with forwarding duly authenticated documents for publication.
Officials said the transition to an electronic Gazette will improve public access to official information and allow faster circulation of government decisions across departments. The new system is also expected to reduce procedural delays and limit dependence on printed material.
The e-Gazette initiative forms part of the wider e-governance framework linked to Digital India, which focuses on improving transparency and efficiency in public administration. Once fully operational, the portal will function as the official and authoritative source for all statutory and administrative publications issued by the UT Administration, ensuring easy access for citizens, institutions, and government offices across Ladakh.
