JAMMU: Mahant Rohit Shastri, astrologer and President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust, issued a press release stating that this year, due to special astrological combinations during Chaitra Navratri, the festivals will be especially auspicious and spiritually rewarding. According to Vedic calculations and the Panchang, the sacred occasions of Shri Durga Ashtami and Shri Ram Navami will be celebrated on Thursday, March 26.
It is believed that Lord Shri Ram was born during the midday period of Navami Tithi in the month of Chaitra. Therefore, when the Navami Tithi prevails during the midday period, that day is considered appropriate for celebrating Shri Ram Navami. This auspicious combination occurs this year on Thursday, March 26, making the day especially meritorious.
He further informed that Shri Durga Navami (Maha Navami) will be observed with devotion and faith on Friday, March 27. On this day, devotees will worship the ninth form of Goddess Durga and formally conclude the Navratri festival.
He also clarified that devotees who perform “Saakh Visarjan” and Kanya Pujan on Durga Ashtami may do so on March 26. Those who prefer to perform Kanya Pujan and Saakh Visarjan on Durga Navami (Maha Navami) may carry out the rituals (according to proper rituals) on March 27.
Kanya Pujan, Havan, and Purnahuti hold special significance on Maha Navami, as they help devotees attain spiritual growth, prosperity, and well-being.
Mahant Rohit Shastri Ji appealed to devotees to observe these sacred days with discipline, devotion, and purity. He encouraged everyone to worship Goddess Bhagwati, chant the name of Lord Ram, and incorporate the values of dharma, truth, and righteousness into their lives. He emphasized that Navratri is the best time for self-purification, spiritual practice, and the flow of positive energy.
In conclusion, he urged everyone to celebrate these festivals with joy and devotion while maintaining social harmony, love, and unity, and to pray for the progress of the nation and the welfare of the world.
