KARGIL: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon on Wednesday inspected a series of infrastructure projects in Hundurman and directed executing agencies to maintain quality standards and ensure timely completion of works intended to improve public services and connectivity.

Accompanied by Councillor Poyen Mohd Amin, engineers from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Roads and Buildings (R&B) departments, other officials and local residents, the CEC reviewed the progress of ongoing development initiatives in the border area.

The visit began with an inspection of the Solar Hundurman Lift Water Supply Project, estimated at ₹18.60 crore and being executed along the Hundurman Brok. Officials briefed the CEC on the status of construction and project implementation.

Dr. Akhoon emphasised adherence to quality benchmarks and project timelines, noting that timely completion would be essential to delivering reliable drinking water facilities to residents. He interacted with representatives of the executing agency, appreciating the progress achieved and urging continued momentum.

The CEC later inspected the Shilikchey Bridge project in the presence of senior R&B officials. During the review, he examined the pace of work, discussed implementation challenges and assured officials that issues affecting progress would be addressed promptly.

As part of the visit, Dr. Akhoon also reviewed the Hundurman Solar Power Plant linked to the lift water supply scheme, underscoring the administration’s focus on integrating renewable energy with public infrastructure.

He further inspected construction of a café under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 initiative at Shilikchey. The project is expected to support tourism-related economic activity in the area.

The CEC reiterated his commitment to ensuring that ongoing projects deliver tangible benefits to local communities while contributing to long-term infrastructure development in the region.
