Jammu/Leh, Mar 04: A high-level meeting to deliberate upon the “Seva Sankalp Resolution” adopted by the Union Cabinet was convened at the Directorate of Census Operations, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on Tuesday.
The meeting was chaired by Amit Sharma, IAS, Director, Ministry of Home Affairs, Census Operations, J&K and Ladakh. It was attended by Arun Kumar, Joint Director, Manmeet Singh Loomba, Deputy Director, Assistant Directors and other officers who joined both physically and through virtual mode.
At the outset, the Office Memorandum issued by the Cabinet Secretariat along with the Seva Sankalp Resolution was read out. A detailed brainstorming session followed, focusing on the Union Cabinet’s vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047 and positioning it among the top three global economies.
Addressing the officers, Amit Sharma observed that the Resolution reflects a renewed commitment to public-oriented governance rooted in constitutional values, transparency, accountability and service to citizens. He stated that the upcoming Census 2027 would embody these principles and serve as a reflection of the governance reforms underway.
He informed the gathering that Census 2027 will be the first fully digital and paperless census exercise in the country. The initiative, he said, is designed to ensure accurate, clean and transparent data collection, enabling evidence-based planning and informed decision-making across sectors.
Highlighting the broader national vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” Sharma underlined the crucial role of the Directorate of Census Operations in strengthening data-driven governance. He noted that reliable demographic data will act as a foundation for policy formulation and inclusive growth strategies.
The Director further stated that Census 2027 aims to reach every individual across the country, ensuring comprehensive coverage. He added that initiatives such as “Census as a Service (CaaS)” and digital enumeration are aligned with ongoing administrative reforms focused on efficiency and citizen-centric delivery.
Officers present at the meeting reiterated their collective resolve to contribute towards the national objective of making India a developed nation and one of the top three global economies by 2047.
The meeting concluded with a pledge to implement the spirit of the Seva Sankalp Resolution in both intent and execution. Officers from Jammu, Srinagar and Leh offices assured full cooperation and adherence to timelines set for the preparations leading up to Census 2027.
