Poonch, Dec 28: The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Rajouri–Poonch Range, Tajinder Singh, on Sunday chaired an Intelligence, Security and Crime Review Meeting at the District Police Office (DPO) Poonch, with a focus on strengthening ground-level policing and intelligence coordination.
The meeting began with a detailed briefing by Senior Superintendent of Police Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, who presented an overview of the prevailing security and intelligence situation in the district. The briefing also covered the crime pattern, progress in investigations, and disposal of cases across police stations and posts.
Senior police officers engaged in in-depth discussions on reviving and reinforcing the intelligence grid by ensuring effective basic policing at police stations and police posts. Stress was laid on generating timely local inputs through sustained field presence and closer coordination with communities.
The DIG issued directions for strict implementation of the Beat System, instructing officers to focus on identifying and monitoring terror-linked elements, narco-support networks, absconders, and individuals with criminal backgrounds. He underlined the need for regular beat inspections, community engagement, and proper recording of intelligence at the unit level.
Officers attending the meeting shared updates on their intelligence sources, security measures in place, and initiatives being carried out by Police Stations, Police Posts, and SOG camps to maintain law and order and prevent unlawful activities.
Reviewing ongoing action against narco-smuggling and terror-related networks, the DIG called for sharper intelligence collection and improved analysis, along with stronger human intelligence networks to counter emerging threats.
The crime situation of the district was also examined in detail. Officers were directed to adhere strictly to investigation timelines and ensure professional handling of cases. Emphasis was laid on the use of scientific and technology-based methods, effective deployment of forensic mobile units, and proper documentation of crime scenes to uphold transparency and accountability in investigations.
The meeting was attended by all gazetted officers and SHOs of police stations across Poonch. The review concluded with instructions to maintain a high level of alertness, discipline, and public-oriented policing to sustain peace and security in the district
