Leh, Jan 08: The orientation training on the newly developed Bhoti textbooks came to a close at the District Institute of Education and Training in Leh on Saturday, ending a fresh phase in the academic preparation for early grades across Ladakh.
The School Education Department recently introduced the Bhoti textbooks for Balvatika I, II and III and for Classes I and II. The launch was carried out by Secretary, School Education Department, UT of Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha (IAS), alongside the Director School Education.
Soon after the launch, a training schedule was rolled out at DIET Leh to support teachers with the new curriculum. The second batch of the week-long programme saw active participation from 102 teachers representing Kharu, Leh and Khaltsi Zones and concluded on 6 January 2026.
Speaking to the teachers, Head of DIET Leh, Sonam Lhamo, underlined the growing relevance of Bhoti following its recognition as an official language of the Union Territory. She shared ongoing efforts at the institute including textbook development and the design of teaching and learning material to assist classroom delivery.
Ms Lhamo thanked the resource persons for guiding the sessions and praised their work in helping teachers understand the content and structure of the textbooks meant for foundational and primary stages. Venerable Stanzin Norbu, Dr Lotos Rabgais and Tundup Namgail were honoured with white khataks in appreciation of their contribution and commitment to the programme.
