Leh, Feb 08: Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Shatrujeet Kapur, undertook an important visit to forward Border Out Posts (BOPs) along the Northern borders in Sub-Sector South of Ladakh, where he interacted with deployed jawans and reviewed the ground situation, significantly boosting the morale of troops stationed in extreme high-altitude conditions.

During the visit, the ITBP chief personally met personnel deployed at forward locations and appreciated their dedication and professionalism while operating in one of the world’s most challenging terrains. ITBP troops guard long stretches of the India–China border in high-altitude regions where BOPs are located between about 9,000 and 18,800 feet, often facing extreme temperatures and harsh weather conditions.

Kapur’s interaction with the jawans focused on operational preparedness, welfare measures, and motivation, reinforcing the leadership’s commitment to ensuring that troops guarding the borders remain well-supported and mission-ready. Such visits are considered vital for maintaining high morale among personnel deployed in remote forward areas.

In addition to visiting forward posts, the DG also met representatives of sister security organisations, emphasising coordination and joint preparedness along sensitive border sectors. Strengthening inter-agency synergy is seen as crucial in addressing security challenges and ensuring seamless border management in strategically important regions like Ladakh.

During his Ladakh visit, Kapur also engaged with local communities, reaffirming the role of ITBP not only as a border guarding force but also as a key partner in community outreach and disaster response across the Himalayan region. ITBP regularly coordinates with civil administration and supports local populations during emergencies and natural disasters.
