Agartala, June 5: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday asserted that the government will not allow demographic changes in border states such as West Bengal, Tripura and Bihar, while reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to strengthening border security across the country.
Addressing Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at the Lankamura Border Outpost in Tripura, Shah said the government is taking comprehensive measures to plug gaps in border management and enhance surveillance along international boundaries.
“Demographic changes in West Bengal, Tripura and Bihar will not be tolerated. The Centre is making every effort to bridge the gaps in guarding international borders,” the Home Minister said.
Shah also stated that the government’s ambitious “smart border” project is in its final stages and will soon be implemented on a pilot basis at seven to eight locations across the country.
According to him, the new security framework will integrate advanced technology, local administrative support and the efforts of border guarding forces to create a more effective and responsive border management system.
He said the initiative is aimed at strengthening national security and improving monitoring capabilities along sensitive border areas.
