NEW DELHI, October 22: Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh’s scheduled concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on October 30 has reportedly been denied permission by Delhi Police over security concerns.
The concert, part of Dosanjh’s Aura India Tour, did not receive the required security clearance following a review by the police.
According to reports, a letter issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi, and addressed to ticketing platform BookMyShow stated that permission could not be granted due to threat-related inputs, security requirements during the festive season and other law-and-order considerations.
The decision has come as a setback for fans who were eagerly anticipating the singer’s performance in the national capital.
Dosanjh has gained international recognition for his live performances at major venues worldwide, including Madison Square Garden in New York and Wembley Stadium in London. He also made history as the first Punjabi artiste to headline and sell out Wembley Stadium.
As of Thursday, further details regarding the impact of the police decision on the concert and the singer’s tour schedule were not immediately available.
