New Delhi, March 24: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today chaired a high‑level security and defence‑preparedness review meeting here in the wake of recent global and regional security developments. The meeting was attended by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and other senior military and security officials.
The review focused on India’s operational‑readiness posture, threat‑perception along the northern and western frontiers, and the integrated response‑mechanism of the three services. Officials said the discussion also touched upon lessons from recent cross‑border military actions, including India’s strikes under Operation Sindoor, and the need to maintain a high‑alert status against hybrid‑threats such as drone and missile attacks.
Reports familiar with the deliberations indicate that the Defence Minister reiterated the need for India to stay prepared for a “war‑like situation” using indigenous weapons and technology, reinforcing the government’s push for self‑reliance in defence manufacturing. Emphasis was placed on accelerating the induction of critical platforms, hardening key defence installations, and upgrading multi‑domain command‑and‑control systems to ensure rapid, coordinated responses to any escalation.
