LEH: Deputy Commissioner Sham, Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), on Wednesday directed government departments to strengthen attendance monitoring mechanisms and expedite the installation of biometric attendance systems after conducting a surprise inspection of several offices and an Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Centre in Khaltse.
Accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Khaltse, Mohd Sharif, the Deputy Commissioner visited the offices of the Public Works Department (PWD), Sheep Husbandry Department and the Zonal Education Office at the district headquarters, where she reviewed attendance records and examined the functioning of the departments.
During the inspection, Kunzes Angmo emphasised the need for greater administrative discipline and accountability, directing officers to ensure punctuality among employees and maintain updated movement registers for field staff. She said timely installation of biometric attendance systems would help reinforce transparency and improve monitoring of government personnel.
The inspection focused on evaluating day-to-day functioning of the departments and assessing adherence to established administrative procedures. Officials were instructed to ensure that service delivery is not affected by lapses in attendance management and record maintenance.
The Deputy Commissioner later inspected the ICDS Centre at Khaltse Farka, where she reviewed staff attendance, examined the meals menu being provided to beneficiaries and assessed the overall functioning of the facility.
Interacting with children at the centre, she took stock of the activities being conducted and appreciated their enthusiastic participation. The visit also provided an opportunity to review the implementation of welfare services delivered through the ICDS programme at the grassroots level.
The surprise inspection forms part of the district administration’s efforts to strengthen institutional oversight, improve efficiency in public offices and ensure that government schemes and services are delivered effectively to the people.
