CS Ladakh Pays Rich Tributes To Brave Soldiers
Kargil, Sept 23: Chief Secretary Ladakh, Dr Pawan Kotwal, visited Drass and took stock of a cultural site of national importance directing the officials of Tourism Development Authority Kargil to ensure the preservation of its traditional and cultural importance.
The Chief Secretary inspected the ongoing work at the Bhim Stone site at Bimbhat, Drass.
He further asked for redesigning the project, highlighting that the site holds immense potential to boost tourism as visitors of diverse faiths are likely to be attracted to the historical location associated with Bhim.
Later, Dr Kotwal visited the Kargil War Memorial, where he paid rich tributes to the brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War.
At the memorial, he also visited the Hut of Remembrance and the Wall of Fame. He appreciated the efforts of the Indian Army in maintaining the site with dignity and creating a space that inspires patriotism and respect.
The Chief Secretary lauded the Indian Army’s role in turning the War Memorial into a place of national pride, remembrance, sacrifice and unity.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar; CEO Tourism Development Authority Kargil (TDAK), Nargis Bano; SDM Drass, Vishal Atri;,Executive Engineer TDAK, Morup Dorjey; Councillor Bhimbat Abdul Wahid, beside others accompanied the Chief Secretary.
Upon his visit to Kargil, the CS the other day visited the Randhawa Top View Point at an altitude of 13620 feet in Kargil, and interacted with the Army personnel stationed there.
During the visit, the Chief Secretary interacted with Army personnel stationed at Randhawa Top and lauded their steadfastness in serving the nation under challenging conditions.
He also took stock of the available facilities at the post and was briefed by the Army about the historical importance of the strategic location.
On the occasion, Dr Kotwal directed the ADC Kargil to instruct the Power Development Department (PDD) to prepare a detailed DPR for ensuring power facilities to the Army at the location.
From Randhawa Top, the Chief Secretary also observed the Kargil Airport and other locations. He said that the airport area has scope for expansion due to its gentle slope, which could be advantageous for future development.
