New Delhi, Jan 25: Indian cricket stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur will be conferred with the Padma Shri award for sporting excellence, recognizing their transformative leadership and historic World Cup triumphs.
Rohit’s honour follows captaining India to the Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 victory and Champions Trophy 2025 success. With 20,109 international runs including 50 centuries, he now focuses exclusively on ODIs after retiring from T20Is and Tests.
Harmanpreet became the first Indian women’s captain to lift the ICC Women’s World Cup, defeating South Africa by 52 runs at DY Patil Stadium. Only the second captain after MS Dhoni to win a World Cup on home soil, her leadership redefined women’s cricket.
These awards celebrate their immense contributions across formats, inspiring generations of cricketers nationwide.
