Leh, Mar 06: Workshops aimed at strengthening credit outreach for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) were conducted in Leh district under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Programme of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.
Titled “LA-12: Workshop with Bankers for Increasing Outreach Lead,” the sessions were organised at the Conference Hall of the District Industries Centre, Leh, bringing together entrepreneurs, banking representatives and government officials to improve awareness on institutional credit and financial procedures.
Around 30 entrepreneurs and members of SHGs representing sectors such as food processing, pashmina, handicrafts and handloom attended the programme.
Experts from the banking and financial sector delivered presentations on MSME loan schemes, credit facilitation and documentation required for securing institutional finance. The resource persons included Stanzin Dolker, Lead District Manager; Tsewang Tamchos, Manager, State Bank of India; Tsewang Dorjey, Assistant General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development; Stanzen Paksang, Senior Manager, SIDCO; K. Isfindyar Khan, Inspector, State Taxes Department (GST Office); and Asiya Tabassum, District Programme Manager, Ladakh Rural Livelihoods Mission.
Participants were briefed on procedures for obtaining credit, working capital management and eligibility conditions for various financial products available to enterprises. The sessions also covered Udyam Registration, GST compliance and government initiatives including the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises scheme and the RAMP programme.
The workshops also enabled direct interaction between bankers and entrepreneurs, allowing participants to raise queries related to loan eligibility, financial documentation and enterprise expansion. Officials highlighted the importance of digital transactions, proper bookkeeping and financial discipline to strengthen the operational capacity of small businesses.
According to officials, such initiatives are intended to improve credit absorption capacity among MSMEs, expand financial inclusion and support the development of local enterprises in Ladakh. The programme is expected to encourage more loan applications from MSMEs and enhance collaboration between entrepreneurs and financial institutions in the region.
The activity forms part of the approved plan for the financial year 2025–26 under the RAMP Programme, which seeks to promote competitiveness, growth and sustainability among MSMEs in the Union Territory.
